Air Canadian Sun HELP
Air Canadian SUN attempts to be different from most VA's and different from our other divisions, by providing more realism. Ofcourse flying behind the computer will always remain a simulation, it will never be real. But we feel that there certainly are areas where we can improve on the reality virtual airlines normaly provide. Going for this realism may make the SUN division slightly intimidating at first though. Especialy for pilots who are not used to flying for Air Canadian VA and for example have never used the FSAcars program before. Below are tutorials that will help you on your way to flying for Air Canadian SUN. In the near future this site will also be used to provide a FAQ-section.

I would like to advise all new pilots, even though they are free to operate the SUN DHC6 and DH8B immidiatly, to operate one or two flights on the mainline division first. This way you can get to know FSAcars, which is a very important program when operating for Air Canadian SUN.

The main steps before your first Air Canadian SUN flight are:
  • Install FSAcars (From the main ACD Website)
  • Download the FSAcars SUN files, acs.ini and acsplanes.txt (From the main ACD Website)
  • Install the weight and balance program (From the SUN website, under software)
  • Make sure fsuipc.dll is installed in your FS\MODULES directory
The main steps before any Air Canadian SUN flight:
  • Reserve a flight (route) and aircraft on the Air Canadian SUN website. You now get assigned a flightid and have to select an aircraft and number of passengers.
  • Open the weight and balance program and create an aircraft.cfg for the aircraft and number of passenges you are flying with
  • Start Flight Simulator and load the aircraft at the airport, set the right ammount of fuel. Make sure the aircraft is at the gate, parking brake set, engines off.
  • When flying online (required for fights over 2hrs) on the VATSIM of IVAO network, start the necessary program and connect to the network
  • Start FSAcars, select "ACS - Air Canadian SUN", enter the relevant flightplan info, make sure to select the right aircraft and registration. Click start flight when done.
  • Go to the FSAcars "Flight Log" tab and click on Commands. Now enter the flightid, like so: c Flightid: 006225326262354. The flightid is the link between your flight and the info in the database. Make sure to add it, make sure it's correct. Easiest is to copy it off the website!
  • Operate your flight. When the flight is done (at the gate, parking brakes set at the destination airport), stop the log and click "Send Log". The flight should now have logged to the website and the income generated by the flight has been calculated.
