Welcome to the New World of Air Canadian Sun.
AIR CANADIAN SUN AND FSX

Despite all the criticism, the tweaks, service packs (yeah we are almost at no2 now after less than a year), the demand on resources… I got one comment: FSX ROCKS!. It is a huge leap forward in flight simulators hence the hick ups it experienced in its young life span.

I have to encourage all of you fellow pilots to revisit SUN through FSX. I DID! And WOW! The details are awesome and the eye candies make it so realistic.

Now were to go? Obvious choice is to go where the mountains are. So the ski routes were the first I visited. To my surprise those Alps scenery makers did not lose any time to adjust to FSX round globe shape terrain. I went to this web site I knew and sure enough there it was, FSX altiports were found at http://www.vf-air.com/FSX2.htm (sorry those French guys do not translate their stuff but it is pretty basic scenery installation). You got to try those from Chambery and I pushed the envelope trying the fs9 scenery for Chambery. It is not bad, not perfect but not bad at all.

As Always the Canadian west Coast and Rockies are an all time favourite. If you are picky in you payware sceneries, then Vancouver + for the same author is a must. It is so realistic you could even spot your house if you live there.

OK that was cool, now what is next? Not surprisingly, US major airports are very nicely rendered in FSX. I tried KDCA, KBOS and they are impressive. Out west Utah already has a whole package including Salt Lake City which looks really nice. (library.avsim.net/esearch.php? DLID=109752&CatID=fsxscen)

And what would be SUN without the Caribbean? Flying to Sint-Maarten (TNCM) is another must! Microsoft did a very decent job at this but since this is one of my favourite destination I got myself the Fly Tampa payware scenery for FS9 and I must say that it is just like the real thing. Having been there one year and a half ago for real I was speechless looking at the detail and realism. Now the new terminal is open and TNCM lost a bit of its charm. In FSX the photo scenery provided by default scenery is awesome. SO I am hoping that soon TNCM from Fly Tampa will be available.

Hey! as a Europe fan, I urge you to try those destinations also. Schipol, Heathrow, Charles De Gaulle are just a few airports that are nicely rendered in FSX. So go out there and fly FSX with SUN.

Notam: I found this cool site through ACD728 and I recommend it for all your FSX tweaks that will better your FSX experience: http://fsx-tweaks.4t.com/ . And for the latest news about FSX go to the official web blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/ptaylor/ . It is also a very good idea to surf on AVSIM for reduced size textures or FPS enhancing ones.

Blue skies.
